Mid month reminder at Penny Black and More Challenges ' Traditional Christmas Colours".

Good morning!

Well, here we are, half way through December welcoming Christmas and almost saying goodbye to 2018!

My inspiration for you for your mid month reminder is a card using another of my favourite stamps 40-557 Starry Tree along with the sentiment stamp 3024F Xmas Spirit and I have used the figures from the On The Town set 30-260.

Keeping with the theme of traditional christmas colours I have focused on my christmas tree and have painted it using green and white acrylic paints. The stars have been painted in with gold Starlights paint and I have added some lovely red Berry Sparkle Cosmic Shimmer drops.

The background have been done using a light blue aqua pen with a touch of glycerin and I have then drawn you in by popping some black Distress Oxide around the very edge.

Finished with some dots of white gesso and highlights along the ground for a bit of snow and a white pen to highlight the figures and parts of the tree.

A perfect card for the younger generation showing two girls that have done their fair share of Christmas shopping by the looks of it!!!!!

Do come over and join us for this months theme of "Traditional Christmas Colours" at:-

PLEASE REMEMBER, NO DIGITAL IMAGES AS THIS IS A STAMPING CHALLENGE.

This leaves me to wish you a very Happy and peaceful Christmas.

Secrets are hidden in the most unlikely places.....

Hi there!

I've had a little play in the craft room this morning with my Lavinia stamps.

I started this piece with a gelli plate background using distress oxides and brusho's having masked off the moon first.

I then wet the moon with water and used my grey brusho to give me the effect of the moon and dried it all off.

The water and moon reflection has been created using starlights paints.

The stamps are Lavinia and Crafters Companion.

A white pen was used to give me the highlights that I needed.

I would like to enter this into the current Allsorts challenge of
Fairies, fantasy and magical:-

A bit of fun on a dark and wet morning!

New theme at Penny Black and More Challenges "Traditional Christmas Colours".

Good morning!

It's a new month and a new theme over at Penny Black and More Challenges and this month we're looking for "Traditional Christmas Colours".

My inspiration for you this time is a card I've made using the fabulous 40-576 Bell and Berries stamp along with the sentiment which is 3024F Xmas Spirit.

I have coloured this using Spectrum Noir aqua pens and blended that background by using the pens diluted with a touch of glycerin.

A few splatters of white gesso and some Cosmic Shimmer Berry Sparkle and I was done!

Do come over and join us this month at :-

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A STAMPING CHALLENGE AND THEREFORE DIGITAL IMAGES ARE NOT ALLOWED AND WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED FOR PRIZES.

I've just popped this one on here too (this one is not in traditional colours and so, is not included in my samples on Penny Black and More) to show you another card that I made (I have actually made three of these as I love things that are that little bit different!) using exactly the same stamps but this time I muted the colours right down with black, slate and tan to show you how versatile the stamp is and can be pretty much painted in in any colour! I have finished this one with a spray of spray and sparkle so that the whole of the page shines with glitter (unfortunately, this never shows up on a photo!).

Hope you will come over and join us this month and good luck!

This means that it's time for our mid month reminder over at Penny Black and More Challenges and that you've got until the end of the month to enter this months theme of "Make Someone Smile".

This card made me smile as I thought it was so cheerful and I don't know about you but orange roses are always so beautiful.

Here I have stamped the images - Penny Blacks 40-511 Crimson Blush - with a pale ink and have painted them in using diluted Aqua pens. Finished off with a white pen and a dark brown pen to put the outline back where I wanted it.  The sentiment is from Penny Blacks 30-416 Happy Thoughts (another favourite of mine!).

I do hope that you'll come over and join us at:-

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A STAMPING CHALLENGE SO NO DIGITAL IMAGES ARE ALLOWED.

See you on the first Sunday in December for a new theme!

New theme at Penny Black and More Challenges - Make Someone Smile.....

Morning!

It's a new theme for November starting today over at Penny Black and More Challenges and this month our new theme is........

"Make someone smile".

Now, this image, ever since I bought it, has made me smile.  The two heads leaning in on each other with such a satisfying smile on both faces says it all for me!

I have used Penny Blacks 40-527 "purr-fect!" stamp here along with part of one of the sentiments from 30-416 Happy Thoughts.  The dies cuts in the top right hand corner are Penny Blacks 51-181 Love is growing die which I have cut three times to look like a spray.  The little random hearts are from my own stash.

I hope that you will come along and join us with this new theme this month at:-

Mid month reminder at Penny Black and More Challenges for "Autumn Splendour"

Hi there!!!

Well, we're half way through October so here I am with the half way reminder for Penny Black and More Challenges for this month which is "Autumn Splendour".

I love all the colours that are associated with Autumn and on this one I have brought in the oranges, purples and browns.

Using the Poetic stamp (40-544) I have used distress oxides to stamp on this one and to create my background too. My sentiment is from Happy Wishes (30-419).  I started by stamping the leaves directly on to my card and then I've stamped more and fussy cut them out and layered them on top with one final one right on the top covered in glossy accents to boost the colours on that one.

Do come over and join us at Penny Black and More Challenges - there are prizes for the winners but do remember to read the rules!  No digital images please and the main focal image of your design must be a hand stamped image.

Hope you can pop over and join us and good luck!

Sending Wishes For A Merry Christmas....

Hello there!

I thought I'd join in the Allsorts challenge this week of "Christmas".

I do make 5 Christmas cards a month throughout the year so I am always more or less ready for Christmas when it arrives!  This card I have chosen to give to my Mum this year.

I have used an assortment of stamps from Stamps By Chloe for this one with just the fir trees on that back mat being from Clarity.

Using a mixture of vellum and heat resistant acetate I produced the flowers and foliage with some Wow embossing powder and finished it off with some Salted Caramel glitter.

This is a real sparkler but that's so hard to catch on camera!

I felt that this was very classy (my kind of Christmas card) and being all on the black card stock it sparkles beautifully! - perfect for my Mum.

I would like to enter this in to this weeks challenge at Allsorts:-

Autumn colours..........

Hi there folks!

Well my DT work has calmed down for a moment so this week I have been having fun in my craft room playing with some of my stash that so rarely comes out of the cupboards!

Both of these pieces are of course full of vibrancy as they have been created with alcohol inks.  So many of us shy away from alcohol ink due to it's unpredictability but it's actually very forgiving if you work with what you've got!

I have used my favourite Autumn colours on both of these pieces, oranges, browns, terra cotta, greens and purples.

On the first one (I have called this The Woodland Woman) I have used one of my all time favourite stamps - the face from Stampers Anonymous Classic Favourites along with the oak branches and leaves from PaperArtsy and Visible Image tree branches and sentiment from their Four Every Season set.  The face has been stamped with Staz On over the alcohol ink and some ink lifted off and the leaves and oak branches have been stamped with Alcohol Lift Off ink.  The way that the ink actually spread on the right hand side left the image of a tree in my mind so I added the Visible Image tree branches by lifting off the ink on that part - see, you have to work with what you have with alcohol ink!

The second creation is me playing with Visible Image once again - the Face It set and adding those same tree branches as on the first card too.  I embossed the face with clear embossing powder as I've used heavy weight yupo paper and was then able to have the resist of the embossing for the alcohol ink to run around.

Hope you like them, fabulous to get my alcohol inks out!

Thanks for stopping by,

Leanne xx

I'd like to enter my Woodland Woman in to the current Allsorts Challenge of "Trees and or Leaves":-

Autumn Brambles.....

Hello there!

I've had a very unusual day to myself today so I decided to make a card to enter in to the Stamping Sensations "I Spy With My Little Eye, Something Beginning With B" challenge and I think I also had the Allsorts challenge this week covered too with a theme of Autumn Glory!

I love Autumn with it's beautiful colours and the hedgerow fruits that are available now often get forgotten when we all think of falling leaves but of course, blackberries often go all through October and just in to November too.

Here I have used a couple of old Sheena Douglass stamp sets and I've done an awful lot of masking to produce this piece as though you are peeping through the hedgerow on to an Autumn scene beyond.  I've coloured this using my Spectrum Aqua markers and have used a range of browns, greens purples (both on the fruits and the leaves) and that Autumn sun just gives it's last breath before the winter sets in.

I hope that I've captured the essence of Autumn and the fruits that it bears to us.

Fabric stencils and suede effect paint - what fun!

Morning!

Well, here I am, with no paper crafting in sight!

Through the summer I had the wonderful opportunity to have a play with the new Pebeo setacolor fabric paints and these were the new suede effect paints (although we have used all setacolor fabric paints on these samples too, not just suede effect).

I know a lot of people are put off of playing on fabric but if you treat it like a blank piece of paper or card stock and just use products suited to fabric, your confidence will grow, trust me, I was exactly the same at first too!!!!

Here I was given a white plain lampshade, a white plain cushion cover and a cream calico tote bag and look what I came up with!

I loved it!

Alcohol pens and ink pads have coloured the images and background.

It was Christmas in July!!!???

Morning!!

Well, back in July, as always happens, we all kick off with the sale of Christmas stamps and goodies!

Sheena Douglass was no exception and I was sent some lovely Christmas stamps to have a play with and I've posted three of them here for you.

I've used a combination of products throughout these, the first one having had sparkle pens the second  one has had distress oxides and the last one is also distress oxides.

That last one shows that these are not just for Christmas, I made this one in to a Congratulations card so suitable for a winter wedding, a Christening or even an anniversary card?

Hope you like them,

New Theme at Penny Black and More Challenges - Make it Feminine.....

Good morning!

Here I am with a new theme over at Penny Black and More Challenges and this month it's "Make it Feminine!".

My thoughts for making it feminine here were the two fabulous female friends - looks like a girlie shopping trip to me!

I had great fun on this card using Penny Blacks stamp set 40-429 Fab Friend.  Other sets used are 30-284 Sprigs, 51-181 Love is Growing die set (which I have also used the cut out piece as a stencil too - so positive and negative used), and 30-095 Flower Festival.

I coloured in with alcohol markers and ink pads using a foam applicator.

Do come and join us at Penny Black and More Challenges for a new months challenge - there are prizes to be won!

Happy 50th Birthday James!

Morning!

I'm having a personal share this morning.

Husband James was 50 (shhh!!) back in the middle of July so I've made room here on the blog between my other scheduled posts to show you my makes for his "big birthday".

Cars and militaria are right at the top of James's hobby list so of course, they had to reflect on these subjects.  So did his gift (tickets to Goodwood Festival of Speed) and his cake!

Hope you like them - James certainly did!

Mid month reminder at Penny Black and More Challenges....

Morning!

Well, we're half way through August so it's time for the mid month reminder over at Penny Black and More Challenges.

This months theme is "I spy with my little eye, something beginning with B" and this time my
"B" is butterflies, blooms and the colour blue!

I have used the Penny Black stamp 40-099 Soft Wings for my butterflies, stamped twice with Sheena's Douglass's sparkle pens direct to stamp technique and the colour drawn out - gives you a lovely hand painted effect - (unfortunately, no matter how hard I tried, I can't get the beautiful sparkle from the pens to show on a photo).

Background is distress oxide and the lovely little flowers are Penny Black 30-284 Sprigs with the 30-419 Happy Wishes set for the sentiment.

Please do come over and join us at Penny Black and More Challenges :-

New Donna Ratcliff 3D stencils samples and new Harmony Inkpads by Spectrum Noir

Hi there!

Well, I have neglected my blog somewhat over the past weeks and not been putting on as much as I would have liked.  This has unfortunately been purely down to very heavy design team workloads (which I'm not complaining about - it's been great fun!).  This does however hamper my efforts to keep loading new images on to my blog!  I have soooo many creations and samples that I couldn't possibly keep up on here with what I'm actually creating so I'm cheating today and showing you eight all in one go!

I loved playing with these new 3D stencils designed by Donna Ratcliff.  So easy to use and launching tomorrow on HSN in America along with the FANTASTIC new Harmony ink pads that Spectrum Noir are launching.  They'll be coming to the UK, we've just got to be a little bit patient!!!

By just starting with the lightest of your colour choices and going darker on your second stencil and darker still on your third you can "knock up" these cards in no time at all and they look like they've taken you ages!!!

Hope you like these that I've made recently and the sneaky peek of the new products to come to the UK soon!

Thanks for stopping by,

New theme at Penny Black and More Challenge "Things with wings".....

Good morning!

Well, can you believe we are into July? So it's a new theme over at Penny Black and More Challenges and this months new challenge is "Things with wings".

I have chosen my things with wings to be my butterflies, dragonflies and bee.

I have used the new Spectrum Noir aqua tint pens on this creation, stamping with the pens direct to stamp technique and pulled the colour in with a damp brush.  I have used distress oxides for the background.

30-416 Happy Thoughts set is where my sentiment has come from and the 30-095 Flower Festival for my flowers, butterflies and dragonflies.  My lovely little (or not so little!) bee is from 30-352 Animal Wisdom.

Do remember when entering our challenges that the main focal image of your creation must be a hand stamped image - no digital images allowed please.

Hope you like this one and good luck for the challenge this month!

Mid month reminder for Penny Black and More Challenges - In The Garden

Good morning!

Well, we are half way through June so it's time for this months mid month reminder over at Penny Black and More Challenges with our theme of "in the garden".

I have created my mid month inspiration using 30-095 Flower Festival stamp set - this includes the flowers and the lovely little dragonflies.  The sentiment is from the 30-419 Happy Wishes stamp set.

I firstly stamped my flowers and masked them off with drawing gum as I went.

Next came the background which I have created using distress inks straight over the top of the drawing gum.

Then rubbed away the drawing gum and coloured the lovely flowers with aquatint pens and some sparkle pens to enhance the colour slightly.

The back mat is stamped with the same flowers and dragonflies and toned down with black soot distress ink.

Mat and layered.

Don't forget to come over and join us at Penny Black and More Challenges with this months theme of "in the garden".

ONLY HAND STAMPED IMAGES PLEASE - NO DIGITAL IMAGES ARE ALLOWED.

It's the first Sunday in June and that means that it's a brand new theme over at Penny Black and More Challenges and this months challenge is "in the garden".

I've created this card as my inspiration for this theme.

The background is a distress ink one and then I've over stamped the poppies (40-516 Dynamic) and coloured those in with a mixture of distress ink for the foliage and distress ink and sparkle pens for the flowers.

The sentiment is from 30-416 Happy Thoughts stamp set.

The back mat has been stamped with the lovely butterfly (40-099 Soft Wings) in distress oxide and then blended with distress oxides to give me the coloured mat.

I finished by putting some crystal glaze droplets on there.

Please come and join us at Penny Black and More Challenges, there are prizes for the winners!

Mid month reminder at Penny Black and More Challenges for "Anything Goes" .....

Hi there!

Here I am with the mid month reminder for Penny Black and More Challenges for our theme this month of "Anything Goes".

Here I have had a play with a new stamp called 40-536 First Waltz and the sentiment is from the 30-416 Happy Thoughts stamp set.

Having created my distress ink background, I stamped the flowers with aqua pens and then dragged the colour in.  I finished with a layer of glossy accents.

I then stamped the flowers again in black ink, cut them out and applied a layer of glossy accents to these too - I love the shiny, thick layer effect this gives you.

I then stamped the lovely sentiment.

Finishing with three little butterflies that I found in my stash.

It's great when the theme is anything goes as you have such freedom to have a rummage through your Penny Black box and see what jumps out at you!!!!

Do come over and join us at Penny Black and More, there are prizes to be had but please remember NO DIGI IMAGES, YOUR MAIN FOCAL IMAGE OF YOUR ART WORK MUST BE A HAND STAMPED IMAGE PLEASE.

Be who your dog thinks you are ..................

Good morning!

Saw the challenge theme this week over on the Allsorts Challenge and just couldn't resist joining in!

One of my biggest passions in life are my pets and my love of animals.  The loyalty that they have, the everlasting love that they show us, the confidence that they have in us and the dependence on us is to me, quite remarkable and humbling actually. This is probably why I owned a pet shop for 10 years!

I have two dogs, three cats, two chinchillas, tropical fish, an indoor rabbit and a cockatoo - not to mention three bird boxes in the garden that I am currently watching with blue tits flying in and out and a nest of three baby wood pigeons right outside one of the doors to the house in a lovely bay tree which is currently stopping me using that door! Don't ask how much wild bird food, peanuts, sunflower hearts and blue tit specialised food I get through!!!!

Well, back to this weeks challenge at Allsorts:-

"It's all about pets"

So here I have joined in with a card made using some old Sheena Douglass stamps which I think just hits the nail right on the head - this is one of my all time favourite stamps and I hope I've done it justice!

A dog, his master and the lead that he so wants to be taken out on. The look of "yes please" says it all...

Nothing can get between the bond between man and his best friend and the bond that I have with my own boys is as close as it gets - they make me smile every single day and they are my world.

I hope you like me entry in to the all sorts challenge, it's a cracking theme and one that I hold so very dear.

Thanks for stopping by today,

A paint fusioned box for my post...........

Hi there!

I've had a very rare moment away from my DT work to do some crafting for myself so thought I'd share it with you here today.

This is an mdf mail box by Crafters Companion that I have first crackled with a layer of acrylic paint, a layer of weathered wood and then a thin top coat of a lighter acrylic paint.  I have paint fusioned with acrylic paints.

For those of you not familiar with paint fusion - it's a technique taught by Sheena Douglass but it is the old fashioned way of folk painting.  Sheena brings it back to life in the form of rubber stamps that you stamp on to your work for guidance which gives you the images and then you use the folk painting techniques with paint to bring the rubber stamped images to life.

As it is going in to my kitchen to store everyones post as it arrives I thought I'd go with blackberries!

Very relaxing to do and this was a lovely project to complete.

As I have made this for myself and thought it was very pretty and useful, I will enter it into Stamping Sensations challenge this month of "One for the Girls" - well, it was one for me!!!!
