New theme at Penny Black and More.... Spring Flowers

Good morning!

First Sunday of March so that only means one thing...... it's a new theme over at Penny Black and More Challenges!

This months new theme is "Spring Flowers" so I've gone for something a bit different this month and a mixed media piece using a birch wood heart.  Over the past few months I've added another feather to my bow and taken up the art of pyrography.  It is so relaxing to do and I've so enjoyed it and I think it's really important to keep on learning and expanding in your knowledge and not get stuck in your usual comfort zone.

So, this heart was burnt just before Christmas and given to a friend of mine that lives in the Netherlands (as it was her that actually introduced me to pyrography in the first place!).

After stamping the Penny Black stamp 40-612 Tulip Bouquet with versafine ink I then burnt in the design with my pyrography iron and shaded the areas too.  I've coloured this one with my Derwent Inktense pencils and watercoloured them out - Inktense pencils are permanent once dry - this is important for when you come to paint a coat of varnish over at the end as you don't want the colours to reactivate and bleed.

The little hearts are just me having fun and drawing with the iron!

The friends sentiment is from Penny Black's Happy Wishes set 30-419. I stamped that and then burnt the image in just the same as with the flowers.

Finished with a coat of hard floor varnish.

I do hope that you can come over and join us this month at Penny Black and More:-

PLEASE REMEMBER THAT WE ARE A HAND STAMPING CHALLENGE, NO DIGITAL IMAGES CAN BE USED AND THE MAIN FOCAL IMAGE MUST BE HAND STAMPED (NOT A DIE CUT).

Thanks for stopping by,

Leanne xxx
